North Kansas City has designs on a “Gigabit-to-the-premises” network that will serve the area’s residential and business customers.
The city has agreed to base the network on World Wide Packets’ “LightningEdge” system, which will be installed over two existing fiber-optic rings previously built for city use.
The network is expected to go live this spring, and offer high-speed data services as well as storage area networking and virus protection.
