Wireless equipment vendor Novatel Wireless has inked a master purchase agreement with Comcast to provide equipment for the cable operator’s High Speed 2go service.
Under the terms of the agreement, Novatel Wireless will supply its MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot and Ovation MC760 and support Comcast as the company continues its nationwide rollout of High-Speed 2go.
Both the MiFi 2200 and the Ovation MC760 are commercially available through Comcast today.
“We’re honored and excited to enter into a supply agreement as a Comcast Wireless trusted partner in their world-class efforts to provide consumers with fast and secure Internet connectivity,” said Rob Hadley, CMO of Novatel Wireless. “We salute Comcast for its pioneering approach in the market place by adding mobile broadband connectivity to their extensive offering and by bundling innovative services – not only for the home but now also on-the-go.”
Novatel’s MiFi enables users to access high-speed Internet from anywhere there is a cellular connection, including moving vehicles where multiple passengers may need Internet access. Users connect to the mobile router through their Wi-Fi enabled handsets or devices.
The Novatel MiFi 2200 is also offered by Sprint, which, along with Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks, is one of the investors in the Clearwire service that Comcast sells under its High-Speed 2go brand.
