ONO, the largest cable operator in Spain, will be among the first cable operators to tap into TiVo’s APIs in order to offer its subscribers improved TV Everywhere services.
ONO, which was already a TiVo customer, will integrate TiVo’s service capabilities into its multi-screen mobile and web applications, including search and discovery capabilities and remote PVR recording management functionality.
ONO will use the TiVo APIs to give its authenticated subscribers the same TiVo look and feel as on their home TVs on any mobile device.
“Our customers feedback on the TiVo solution has been resoundingly positive, TiVo has already provided a positive boost to our video offering and has consistently delivered high satisfaction,” said ONO’s Nick Ontiveros, director of marketing, TV. “We are committed to extending a consistent TiVo experience on any device our subscribers would like to use to consume content. By leveraging the TiVo Service APIs, we’ll be able to deliver the TiVo experience to more of the devices used by our subscribers.”
Vodafone-owned ONO first teamed up with TiVo three years ago, and now that service is in use by more than half of ONO’s subscriber base, reaching more than 400,000 active users.
“Our work with ONO has already demonstrated how operators can effectively develop and customize a hybrid television platform that is quick to market, feature-rich and flexible,” David Sandford, TiVo’s vice president and general manager, international,. “We’re pleased that ONO plans to leverage the TiVo Service to power its TV Everywhere solution and provide their subscribers a consistent experiences across all screens.”
Last week TiVo announced it had opened new offices Austria, England, the Netherlands, Poland and Spain in order to better serve its European customers.
