Optimum Lightpath, a division of Cablevision, has scored another customer win by landing a deal with Next Generation Radiology.
Optimum Lightpath said Next Generation Radiology, which is a provider of diagnostic radiology services, doubled its bandwidth by dropping the T1 lines from its former telecommunications provider while saving $20,000 per year.
The company replaced three T1s at each of its four locations in Long Island, N.Y., and its 1.5 Mbps Internet access line with one Optimum Lightpath Internet and voice connection and one Optimum Lightpath Intranet connection at each site.
With the increased bandwidth, Next Generation Radiology can now host multiple Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) that enable consultations with experts from medical universities across the nation, as well as give referring physicians the ability to send images to Next Generation.
“Before Optimum Lightpath, it was impossible to connect to our national network of experts. Hosting multiple VPNs over T1 lines would have resulted in multiple failures,” said Frank Robbins, IT administrator for Next Generation Radiology. “By switching to Optimum Lightpath, we did away with multiple T1s, load balancing, outages and timeouts. Now I have one, easy-to-manage monthly bill and one voice/data network that connects our sites with tremendously low latency.”
Optimum Lightpath announced a similar customer win in August with Long Island-based Medical Arts Radiology.
Optimum Lightpath offers its Ethernet-based solutions to businesses and health care facilities in the New York metropolitan area. Earlier this month, it was among the winners of the Metro Ethernet Forum’s Carrier Ethernet Service Provider Awards.
