Optinel Systems, a provider of Ethernet transport products, has completed interoperability between its PLEXiS GX Series 10 GBps and CRYSTAL Network Management System and the Mintera Corp. MI 40000 Transport Solution.
According to the companies, the combined products create bi-directional, high-capacity fiber optic links able to carry up to 40 Gbps Ethernet traffic on a single wavelength over distances exceeding 180 kilometers without any intermediate optical amplification.
“This successful 40 Gbps interoperability demonstrates a reliable method to accommodate future growth on existing network infrastructures with minimal capital investment,” said Irl Duling, Optinel’s chief scientist, in a release.
Optinel says its PLEXiS product suite is capable of transporting from less than 1 Gbps to more than 400 Gbps per fiber over distances of greater than 500 km. Mintera’s MI 40000, meanwhile, allows service providers to deploy 40 Gbps optical transport in applications including metro-core, regional, and long-haul situations.
