Optinel Systems has released the PLEXiS 10 Gbps Gigabit Ethernet Transport Platform, an upgrade that provides up to 10 Gbps of capacity per wavelength for video-on-demand, high-definition television, high-speed data and voice and other advanced cable services.
“As cable’s drive to roll out new services gains more and more momentum, we feel this expanded Gigabit Ethernet platform comes at an ideal time to alleviate capacity concerns by offering greater upgradeability at an attractive cost,” said Sandeep Vohra, Optinel’s president and CTO, in a statement.
The company said its flagship system can scale from “just a few” video streams per fiber to more than 75,000, and deliver those streams to distances greater than 500 kilometers.
