OpVista Inc. has won a multi-year deal to supply Cox Communications with the vendor’s MetroVista optical transport system.
OpVista’s platform is designed to deliver up to 800 Gbps on a single fiber. It can deliver those speeds up to 1,000 kilometers without dispersion compensation or signal regeneration, the company said.
Cox will use the equipment as part of a plan to migrate to a fully converged DWDM network as it continues to support higher levels of high-speed data traffic, video-on-demand services and commercial services.
“We needed an innovative technology that would meet the capacity demands of this growth, while allowing us greater visibility into the performance of the network and flexibility to rearrange the network remotely,” said Cox Engineering Manager Dan Estes.
