Optical transport startup OpVista Inc. has reeled in a big one, announcing that Time Warner Cable will deploy its MetroVista 2000 system to a number of locations in upstate New York.
TWC’s Syracuse Division is leveraging the vendor’s “Ultra Dense Gigabit Ethernet” platform at three sites to deliver two-way digital video, high-speed data and legacy ATM services on a signal fiber. The system enables TWC operator to expand the capacity of its fiber and cover long distance without additional network re-engineering, OpVista said.
The platform — which delivers up to 800 Gbps on a single fiber at distances up to 1,000 kilometers without dispersion compensation or signal regeneration — is providing transport between the MSO’s systems in Fairlakes, Cortland and Ithaca, N.Y.
