The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) announced that the recipient of its 2006 SCTE Excellence in Standards Award is Comcast Spotlight Vice President/Technology Paul D. Woidke.
The annual SCTE Excellence in Standards Award was created in 2005 to honor an SCTE Standards Program participant who has significantly contributed to both the technical standards program and the spirit of cooperation necessary for the success of voluntary standards. Alan Amato of Times Fiber Amphenol was the award’s inaugural recipient.
Woidke, who works in New York City, has been an SCTE member since 1998. He is the longtime chair of the SCTE Digital Video Subcommittee’s (DVS) Working Group Five, which is responsible for Digital Program Insertion (DPI) standards. Under his leadership, the group has played a leading role in the development of standards that support the splicing of commercial content into digital program streams.
