Comcast, Charter Communications and EchoStar are all raising monthly fees in various areas in the west.
Comcast said it is raising rates in several systems it operates in Oregon and Washington to recover costs associated with improving long-standing services and introducing new services, including faster Internet connectivity and on-demand services. Increases will vary from 4 percent to almost 8 percent, depending on the services subscribed to. Customers taking the basic TV package in and around Portland, Ore., will actually see their bills reduced slightly, however.
Charter is increasing rates for customers in its Northern Nevada system. Fees are set to increase from $1 to $10, depending on the service package. The rise was attributed to programming costs.
EchoStar is set to increase some Dish Network costs in Carson City, Nev., including the fees for its top two TV tiers and the fee for its premium movie package.
