Philadelphia Technology Park has connected its data center, which is located in the Philadelphia Navy Yard, with Comcast’s private optical network and extensive fiber network.

“As we continue to expand our connections throughout the region, we are proud to welcome Comcast to Philadelphia Technology Park and the Navy Yard,” said Corey Blanton, chief operating officer of Enterprise Technology Parks. “We are pleased to provide the Navy Yard with a connection to Comcast’s high-performance network and to offer their bandwidth services and routes to meet customers’ communications needs.”

The new agreement – and financial terms weren’t available – allows both Philadelphia Technology Park and Comcast Business Services to continue to expand their connections in the region. Philadelphia Navy Yard businesses, including Comcast customers and prospective customers alike, will now be able to connect with a state-of-the-art data center and have access to Comcast’s high-performance network.

“With our Ethernet suite of services, we are able to deliver the scalability and maximum uptime that are essential to the range of businesses located at the Philadelphia Technology Park, regardless of size or requirements,” said Michael Maloney, vice president of Comcast Business Services for the Freedom Region. “The backbone of a data center is flexible and reliable connectivity, and our Ethernet solution will enhance network capabilities in the Philadelphia Navy Yard while reducing the costs and management associated with delivering critical business applications.”

Philadelphia Technology Park opened in 2010 and features a 25,700-square-foot colocation data center. Philadelphia Technology Park is owned by Enterprise Technology Parks and is a sister corporation to Baltimore Technology Park, a 30,000-square-foot colocation data center.
