Last month, we reported on Amazon’s ascent into aerial autonomous aeries with a vertical drone garage. Now, Dezeen has found another patent, filed in April of this year, for an underwater warehouse to store items.
Amazon claims that storing items including books and electronics in waterproof containers would be a more efficient use of space than conventional warehouses, removing the need for shelves or for warehouse workers or robots to walk from one station to another. The Aquatic Storage Facility would hold items in what is essentially an anti-gravity environment. Each box would have its own balloon, which, when activated by a sonic signal, would float to the top of the holding pool.
Amazon seems to be experimenting with a lot of different form factors as online delivery becomes more popular. They have also included a plan in which the underwater system is housed entirely underground in a man-made cavern.
