Russian designer Arinin Evgeny released a redesign of the traditional traffic light. Today’s traffic lights are usually simple to understand, but can struggle to adapt to crossroads with multiple forks, or to left-turn rules that may differ from state to state. Evgeny’s version proposes a differently-shaped light for every intersection, with green and red sections indicating possible directions. He wants to try it out at a local level first, where it won’t be as difficult to manufacture so many different types of signs. Do you think this could work on a larger scale?
