- Panasonic has developed a pin shaped Lithium Ion Battery that features the high reliability and high output required for near-field communications (NFC). With a diameter of 3.5 millimeters and a weight of .6 grams, this tiny cylindrical batter is suitable for powering small devices such as wearable devices.
- Google is trying to figure out how to create one giant modular screen by connecting smaller screens together. It’s not really clear on why Google is trying to do this, but the Wall Street Journal has reported that the project is at an early stage, and “the big challenge is to electronically, and through software, do the stitching between the seams.”
- London-based data security specialists SecureDrives has developed the Autothysis128t, which according to the, is the ultimate in data storage protection. These storage devices may look ordinary, but can destroy data when triggered by a simple SMS message with its built-in GSM. This patented technology is designed to fragment the NAND Flash along with the security controller to impede any data recovery technique that might be applied in an attempt to gain access to the encrypted data. No amount of computer processing power will help if a NAND Flash can’t be mounted onto a PCB. The whole design approach of this Drive was based on reverse engineering data recovery techniques.
- Plastc Card brings all your cards into one sophisticated device. Plastc’s e-ink touchscreen gives consumers easy access to their debit and Credit cards, access cards, and gift and loyalty cards. With a magnetic stripe and barcode display, Plastc Card will work in all the places users already frequent. Its powerful technology protects information with a magnetic stripe and NFC chip that are disabled until a card is selected, preventing any fraudulent activity. Plastc Card also comes with a secure card PIN, photo ID, proximity alerts, and ‘Return Me’ mode.
