Through the river and over the woods, look at this Russian ATV go.
Based on the designs of technologist Aleskey Garagshyan, the St. Petersburg, Russia-built two passenger Sherp ATV is capable of riding through virtually any terrain on Earth. It sits on four self-inflating tires that measure out at an absurd 63 inches tall, meaning that the rubber, not its steel body, makes up the majority of its 90.5 inch stature.
Speed isn’t the Sherp’s greatest strength—it tops out at 28 mph on land and 3.7 mph in water—but quickness was never the goal with the ATV. Sherp was made to traverse through dirt, mud, ice, and water. The 2,866 pound ATV is capable of toppling objects up to 27.5 inches, while also possessing the elegance to cross frozen water. On its website, the ATV’s manufacturer claims that the Sherp has been tested in Russian forests, tundra, swamps, and even the mountains in the nation’s Kola Peninsula.
Even the most basic Sherp isn’t cheap, sporting a $65,000 price tag. That starter model has a 1.5-liter, 44-horsepower four-cylinder diesel engine. Some of the features include a soft top tent, automatic interior heating system, halogen headlights, and a 15.3-gallon fuel tank.
