Working to support its business customers, Qwest Communications said it has expanded its Ethernet services network to reach another 759 U.S. cities this year, for a total of 1,129, and has arranged for connectivity in six of the 137 international countries it serves.
Qwest provides Ethernet services over Sonet, Wavelengths and Native Ethernet. The services it offers range from 5 Mbps to 10 Gbps and can be scaled as necessary to accommodate the heavy bandwidth users who require full-time, dedicated or shared point-to-point, and multi-point transport wide area networking (WAN) and metro area networking (MAN) services.
Qwest’s plans are to continue expanding its Ethernet services footprint, and to integrate Layer 1, Layer 2 and Layer 3 Ethernet services for metro, national and international needs.
Separately, Qwest said it has installed 11 new interactive retail kiosks in shopping centers in Colorado, Iowa, North Dakota, Washington State and Arizona, with plans to open 31 additional locations across the company’s 14-state region.
The kiosks are designed to not only provide information on Qwest services, but to demonstrate the services themselves, and to extol the virtue of Qwest service bundles.
All of the residential and small-business products that Qwest offers, including voice services, Qwest high-speed and fiber-optic Internet services, Verizon Wireless service and DirecTV video, are available at the Qwest kiosks.
