RCN Business is removing some of the complexities associated with enterprise-level customers managing their WAN and LAN assets by offering a new managed LAN service.
The service is packaged as a switch management solution for RCN Business’ hosted voice and Ethernet products. The managed LAN service was designed to help configure, deploy, monitor and manage RCN’s voice/Ethernet switch.
The service provides one point of contact for voice LAN and WAN management, which in turn cuts down IT staffing needs. RCN said no configuration or expertise were required from the customer, and switches are monitored 24×7 by RCN.
Other benefits include seamless addition of new hosted voice seats during expansion, increased reliability, minimal network downtime with guaranteed SLA response times and lower operational costs.
“With the costs and complexities associated with network management, enterprises are facing challenges with the management of their networks,” says Robert Roeder, executive vice president and chief development officer of RCN. “RCN Business is committed to offering our customers best-in-class products and services, including managed LAN to help businesses lower their costs, while enabling IT managers to focus more on their day-to-day responsibilities.”
Businesses receive a number of support services when adding managed LAN, including technical assistance with switch issues.
Managed LAN is available in all RCN Business markets, including Boston, Chicago, Lehigh Valley, Pa., New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Managed LAN services, in combination with router management, costs $99 per month.
