RCN is offering a holiday promotion of reduced rates on its voice and data services in the New York City boroughs that it serves.
The promotion, which started on Black Friday and ends today on Cyber Monday, includes a $100 gift card for new subscribers. Over-builder RCN offers its services in Manhattan and Queens, as well as in parts of downtown Brooklyn, where it competes against Time Warner Cable.
RCN said scheduling for same or next day free installation was also available in order to give customers quick access to the services.
“We’re excited to offer New York City residents all their forms of digital entertainment at significantly reduced prices,” said Bruce Abbott, general manager of RCN New York. “This is an early holiday gift that will be enjoyed for months to come.”
RCN New York’s Signature Digital TV package includes TiVo whole-home DVR service, which includes the TiVo Premiere Quad offering of more than 650 hours of recording and the ability to record four programs at one time. The offer also includes a TiVo Preview HD box for a second TV in a home, which allows for multi-room sharing functionality.
For $89.99 per month for the first 12 months, new subscribers will receive:
- Download speeds of up to 50 Mbps
- Unlimited Internet usage, without caps on data
- Access to more than 225 all-digital channels, with more than 65 in HD
- A wireless router.
RCN said the data-only offering costs $34.99 for the first 12 months.
In August, Time Warner Cable announced it would give away Slingboxes for New York City-area subscribers of its DOCSIS 3.0 Wideband Internet tier starting near the end of September.
