RCN has rolled out a new user interface for its TiVo-based service that has new guide functions, faster navigation, better search capabilities and new TV apps.
The new interface had been phased in across RCN markets, with the rollout completed last week.
RCN viewers now have the option to create categories in which they can file their “My Shows” selections. Users are also able to customize searches using their remote.
New to any company using the TiVo interface is a feature that enables streaming to Android devices within the home. Once the app is downloaded to an Android device, customers can connect to their TiVo and access a variety of TiVo elements, including the guide, information on the current program playing, the My Shows list and the browse feature.
When a customer finds a program to watch, they click “Watch Now,” select the type of device they are using, and choose recording options. TiVo will begin to record so that shows can immediately stream to the Android device.
New apps like Spotify, HSN Shop-By-Remote and the Huffington Post are also available with this release.
“RCN is focused on the wants and needs of our customers, and we always put those considerations first,” says RCN COO Chris Fenger. “The past year has been one of great change and improvement at RCN, as we have delivered a variety of new offerings to enhance the customer experience. Each of these offerings is a building block, and the new TiVo user interface represents the latest improvement for our customers. We will continue to enhance the user experience and listen to our customers so that we can consistently provide them with what they want, when they want it.”
