Rentrak announced today that Hargray Communications has joined the list of MSO customers that are using Rentrak’s on-demand measurement and analytical tools.
Rentrak entered into a multi-year agreement with 68-year-old telecommunications company Hargray. Hilton Head, S.C.-based Hargray offers traditional phone services to its customers, as well as cable TV, wireless telephone and Internet services.
“Adding Hargray Communications to our established list of MSOs allows Rentrak to continue to provide independent, third-party, on-demand content measurement and analytical information and set the standard for media measurement across all content types,” said Carol Hinnant, VP of business development for Rentrak’s OnDemand Essentials Suite of Services.
Rentrak’s stable of cable customers includes Bresnan, Cablevision, Charter, Comcast, Cox Communications, Insight Communications, Time Warner Cable and Suddenlink, as well as other clients such as Verizon and WOW.
Rentrak processes daily, census-level, on-demand data representing 54 million set-top boxes from 28 MSOs and more than 100 content provider partners, and the company manages billions of transactions from more than 15,000 retail and 12,000 home video locations, as well as 35,000 movie screens, across North America and other countries around the world.
Citing data from subscribing MSOs across North America, Rentrak recently reported that consumer time spent viewing video-on-demand (VOD) programming increased by 185 million hours in the first quarter of 2008, compared with the first quarter of 2007 (story here).
