Google’s TV ad initiative is coming up on its third anniversary in April, but some are questioning whether the search giant is getting ready to throw in the towel on its Google TV Ads.
According to a story in Mediaweek, media ad execs are wondering what Google TV Ads’ role will be in the bigger picture of all things Google.
On the plus side, Google has struck deals with 17 cable channels and an Internet deal with TiVo, as well as with EchoStar TV, according to a story on paidContent.org.
But with two years of a down advertising market, advertisers may not be willing to hand over fists full of cash for a service that so far lacks scale, despite its potential for targeting.
On the competition front, the cable industry’s Canoe Ventures hopes to have its RFI-based interactive adverting service up and running this year.
