Time Warner Cable and Comcast are in talks with major cable TV broadcasters in regards to offering more programming online to their subscribers.
Comcast, Time Warner Cable and other cable operators are looking at ways to combat the video offerings from over-the-top Internet video providers such as Hulu and Vudu.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Comcast and Time Warner Cable, the largest and second largest, respectively, cable operators in the nation, have been in discussions with Viacom, Time Warner and NBC Universal over the course of several months. The additional TV content would be offered to just the cable operators’ subscribers and not through a Web portal that is accessible to anyone.
If the negotiations are successful, the new services could debut later this year with a large amount of video content that was previously unavailable on the Internet.
