DSL Reports said this morning that Time Warner Cable is offering its DOCSIS 3.0 service to customers in the Charlotte area.
Time Warner Cable, the nation’s second-largest cable operator, has said Charlotte would be the next area to get the faster DOCSIS 3.0 speed. Yesterday, a spokesman for Time Warner Cable said Charlotte would have DOCSIS 3.0 over the next few weeks, but DSL Reports, citing several users as sources, said the 50 Mbps down, 5 Mbps up tier has been launched.

DSL Reports said Time Warner Cable was charging $99 a month in the Charlotte area, which is the same price it’s charging in Buffalo and New York City, but also said it was available as part of a triple-play bundle for $179.95 per month.
Time Warner Cable is calling the $179.95 tier its “Signature Home” service, which also includes Look Back, Start Over and a whole-home DVR system that allows subscribers to watch a show in one room and then pick it up where it was left off in another room.
The Signature Home DVRs can record up to four HD programs simultaneously and store 150 hours of HD content, according to the website.
On the wireless side of the service, Time Warner Cable will hook up to 13 devices, including TVs, DVRs, computers, printers, stereos, game systems and mobile phones, to the wireless network that it installs.
The service also comes with Caller ID on TV and Caller ID on PC. Time Warner Cable’s “VoiceZone” lets subscribers manage their digital home phones from any computer, while another feature sends voicemail to e-mail if a subscriber is away from home.
