BigBand Networks has re-jiggered its Edge QAMs to cover a cable system’s entire radio frequency (RF) range up to 1 GHz, giving operators the flexibility to use any part of their spectrum for video-on-demand (VOD) or switched digital video (SDV).
The enhanced BEQ6000 RF Module covers the entire RF frequency range from 54 MHz to 1GHz, allowing operators to rapidly deploy SDV, VOD and broadcast services in virtually any network frequency range.
The enhanced RF module can be used in existing BEQ6000 chassis in parallel with other BigBand RF modules, thereby reducing capital expense when upgrading to 1 GHz.
“BigBand continues to deliver new functionality to our QAM platform to meet market demands for reliable service delivery at a lower total cost of ownership,” said Biren Sood, vice president of marketing and business development for BigBand Networks. “Optimizing video delivery is one of our core competencies. The ability to drive efficient utilization of network resources is fundamental in ensuring revenue opportunities for advanced video services while conserving valuable bandwidth.”
