RGB Networks’ Video Multiprocessing Gateway (VMG), Broadcast Network Processor (BNP) and Dynamic Bandwidth Manager (DBM) can be used to deliver 3-D content, which the company is demonstrating this week at the IBC show.
“While demand is certainly increasing for 3-D, the challenges associated with deploying this type of bandwidth-hungry service – namely the cost and impact on the network infrastructure – can present one hurdle too many for providers,” commented Nabil Kanaan, senior director of product marketing at RGB Networks.
“As our live demonstration will show, service providers can confidently deploy 3-D content over their existing networks with minimal infrastructure and operations impact,” Kanaan added. “This brings the cinema experience right into the living room, while still maintaining a lucrative business model.”
The on-stand demonstration will highlight how 3-D content can be delivered alongside existing video services, allowing service providers to gradually and cost-effectively introduce 3-D programming into their channel lineups.
