The Shawnee Mission School District in Kansas City has selected Time Warner Cable ‘s Road Runner Business Class division to support a 1 Gbps fiber optic data network to carry the district’s data, video and VoIP traffic.
The school district covers 72 square miles, with 53 schools and 31,000 students. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
“We’re conscious that school districts are fighting tight budgets, and we pledge to provide Shawnee Mission schools the most technologically advanced system available, in the most cost-effective manner,” said Ken Fitzpatrick, SVP of Time Warner Cable Commercial Services, in a release.
