Comcast’s chief communications officer (CCO) D’Arcy F. Rudnay has been promoted from senior vice president to executive vice president. The company also promoted SVP, general counsel, and secretary Arthur Block to EVP.
D’Arcy is the first woman promoted to EVP at Comcast.
As CCO, Rudnay directs management of Comcast’s brand and reputation, but also the strategic and financial communications to Comcast’s employee base and outside audiences. She spearheaded the communications strategy employed when the $45 billion Time Warner Cable acquisition was announced by Comcast and the $30 billion NBCUniversal transaction in 2011 and the rebranding that occurred as a result of these events.
As a Comcast executive, Rudnay champions the Women’s Network. This is the company’s largest resource group which focuses on career development and advancement for women employed by Comcast – a network that has expanded to include more than 1,100 members. Before her promotion, Rudnay led the reconstruction of Comcast after the company acquired both AT&T Broadband and Adelphia.
Rudnay has a background in the financial services industry. She acted as Lincoln Financial Group’s vice president of corporate communications and media relations, but also as VP of the LFG Foundation. Rudnay started out working in communications for The Pew Charitable Trusts and for strategic communications firms in Washington, D.C. and moved on to serving as VP of communications and corporate identity for Advanta Corporation.
Block is the Company’s chief legal officer, overseeing Comcast’s legal, corporate governance, compliance, and strategic intellectual property functions. During his 26 years with the company, he has served as the lead in-house attorney for Comcast’s mergers, acquisitions and financings, including transformative acquisitions like AT&T Broadband and NBCUniversal.
Prior to joining Comcast, Block was a partner in the corporate department of the Philadelphia law firm Wolf Block where he began his legal career in 1978. During his tenure at Wolf Block, he served as a legal advisor to Comcast before joining the company as in-house counsel in 1989.
Art currently serves as Co-Chair of the Site Board of City Year Greater Philadelphia and as the Chair of the Board of Managers of Moore College of Art and Design. He was the recipient of the 2012 Idealist of the Year Award from City Year Greater Philadelphia. He received his B.S. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.
