The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) is seeking papers and presentations for technical sessions at this fall’s SCTE Cable-Tec Expo Sept. 22-25 in Denver.
SCTE said that its SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2014 Program Committee was targeting papers that addressed technologies, best practices, solutions, workforce training, and case studies in three key subject areas—customer experience, next-generation video, and next-generation networks. SCTE is also requesting that all sessions be interactive and include case studies whenever possible.
Suggested proposal areas for Expo include:
• Customer Experience—Improving the Customer Experience through new technologies and techniques; Defining and Redefining the Connected Home; and Improvements in Installation Experiences and Operations.
• Next-Generation Video—Transitioning to the All-IP Video Network; Portability of Services; Ultra HD Formats; High-Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC); and Next-Generation User Interfaces.
• Next-Generation Networks: Gigabit and Beyond—Access Network Architectures and Technologies; Virtualized-, Cloud-, and Software-Defined Networks; and Energy and Event Management.
More details on topics and subtopics are available at “Call for Papers.” The deadline for abstract submissions is April. Abstracts will be reviewed by the program committee, which is chaired by Tony Werner, executive vice president and CTO of Comcast.
The last time Expo was in the Mile High City was 2009. Attendance was down that year partially due to more than a foot of snow in the Denver area.
