SeaChange International announced this morning that it has hired George Kajos as the new general manager for its platform business unit.

In his new job, Kajos heads the product development organization that includes SeaChange’s Adrenalin video platform and Nitro subscriber offering, as well as other multi-screen products.

Kajos brings more than 30 years of experience in video streaming and software engineering to SeaChange. He was director of engineering for Motorola video-on-demand products since 2006.  Beginning in 2002, he was vice president of engineering, and then vice president of advanced engineering, for VOD server vendor Broadbus Technologies, which was bought by Motorola.

Previously, he was co-founder and vice president of software engineering for Gotham Networks and also held senior engineering positions at VideoServer, SynOptics Communications, Prime Computer and BBN Communications.

Kajos is named in several patents and patents pending for technologies associated with video distribution and has published journal and conference papers on related topics. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers.

“George is well known and respected throughout the video service provider community and is the ideal leader for SeaChange’s highly accomplished video platform development organization,” said SeaChange CEO Raghu Rau. “Adding to our other recent senior management appointments, George further strengthens SeaChange’s leadership team and our focus on core service provider customers.”

In October, Sam Ganesan joined SeaChange as chief architect, and Alan Hoff joined as vice president of strategic marketing.

Last month, SeaChange CTO Steve Davi left his post for Synacor, where he will serve as senior vice president of software engineering.
