Cable pioneer Service Electric TV and Communications picked Arris to enable its whole home DVR platform that streams live and recorded content throughout the home and on the go.
Service Electric is using Arris’ Whole Home Media platform, and its subscribers also have the option to buy the Sling-media based Arris MS400 Media Streamer in order to stream live and DVR content to their mobile devices.
“Our launch of the Whole Home Solution and available MS4000 marks a continued expansion of our partnership with Arris,” said John M. Walson, president of Service Electric. “We constantly hear from our customers about their desire to stream content to their tablets, laptops, and other mobile devices. Through our Arris partnership we now have the ability to fulfill that need and extend subscribers’ content experiences throughout the home and on-the-go.”
The Arris Whole Home Solution includes a family of media gateway and player products, offering Service Electric’s customers a centralized gateway that provides simultaneous use of video and telephony services, 6-tuner HD multi-room DVR, Wi-Fi, DOCSIS 3.0 data rates, and media-sharing capabilities available through an intuitive user interface.
“It’s rewarding to see our technology supporting Service Electric Cable TV and Communications’ commitment to providing subscribers the services they want,” said Bruce McClelland, president of network and cloud and global services at Arris. “The Arris Whole Home Solution and MS4000 combine innovation and cost-effectiveness to deliver anytime, anywhere, multi-screen experiences.”
Service Electric provides triple play services to more than 125,000 subscribers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Service Electric was one of the first community antenna television networks when founder John Walson Sr. started the company in 1948.
