Among the operators announcing free calling to Italy in the wake of the recent earthquake were Comcast, Mediacom, Altice USA and Verizon.
Comcast reports it is providing free calls to Italy for its more than 11.5 million Xfinity Voice customers, including residential and business. It applies to calls made to Italy through Sept. 25 and includes both landline and mobile. Credits and waived fees will be automatic, and no action is required by customers, according to Comcast.
Mediacom is offering its customers free international phone calls to Italy through September 5.
Altice USA previously announced it was providing its Optimum and Suddenlink residential and business customers through Sun., Aug. 28.
Verizon also offered free wireless and wireline calling from the U.S. to Italy. Home wireline telephone customers didn’t incur charges to Italy from their U.S. landlines Aug. 23-26. Wireless users also didn’t get charged for texts or international long distance calls originating from the U.S. to Italy Aug. 23-26.
