OSAKA, June 27 (Kyodo) — Sharp Corp. will sell high-end liquid crystal display televisions equipped with “4K” technology in North America from September, company officials said Thursday.
It will be the first time for the struggling Japanese electronics maker to launch overseas a 4K TV that delivers image quality four times finer than the current high-definition resolutions.
The 70-inch TV, to be sold under the Aquos brand, will be introduced in the United States, Canada and Mexico at a suggested retail price of $7,999.
South Korea’s Samsung Electronics Co. and Japanese electronics company Sony Corp. have already introduced 4K TVs in North America.
