Shaw Communications has cut a deal with Mascon Communications and its affiliates to buy a number of small systems in British Columbia.
Shaw has been slowly but consistently buying up smaller cable companies in western Canada, including Grand Forks Cable Systems in B.C. in September, and Whistler Cable in Alberta in August.
The systems just purchased from Mascon provide service in Winfield, Lumby, Pender Island, Mayne Island, Galiano Island and Lillooet, B.C., which Shaw said will expand its existing coverage around Kelowna and in the Gulf Islands.
Mascon retains control of a half-dozen other systems in the general area.
