Shaw Communications is offering its customers content online and on their TVs through the launch of its broadband VOD player.
With the broadband player, Shaw’s subscribers start a movie online and finish watching it on their TVs.
“Technology continues to evolve with the ability to watch content on multi-platforms,” said Peter Bissonnette, President, Shaw Communications. “That’s why Shaw is investing in bringing exceptional content delivered in various ways. Our new broadband VOD Player provides our customers the convenience of watching their favorite movies and television shows when and where they want to.”
Shaw customers will be able to search and order programs on the company’s Web portal.
Shaw said its broadband VOD lineup included new releases from Universal Studios, Maple Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios. In addition, customers with Movie Central as part of their TV package can order and stream movies and shows from Movie Central at no additional charge.
Shaw didn’t respond to inquiries about how it was authenticating customers for its online viewing service.
Earlier this week, Videotron launched its version of TV Everywhere while Rogers officially rolled out its online viewing service last month.
