Philadelphia-based La Salle University has upgraded its campus network with a faster, more reliable platform from Sidera Networks.

By upgrading its network with Sidera, LaSalle not only increased its bandwidth for applications such as email and e-learning, but also improved network performance and lowered costs while providing the university with access to Sidera’s around-the-clock support.

“Our newly upgraded network gives us a faster, flexible and more reliable connection, and the migration from the previous provider was painless. Network performance has been excellent since we began to work with Sidera,” stated Ed Nickerson, CIO of La Salle University.

La Salle joined nearly 50 education and research institutions in the Northeast that use Sidera’s fiber-optic network to support their bandwidth requirements.

Sidera’s service offerings include: Ethernet, SONET, wavelength, dark fiber, Internet access and colocation.

Earlier this year, Sidera Network was reportedly up for sale. Sidera was formerly known as RCN Metro Optical Networks until Abry Partners bought RCN and subsequently renamed and split off Sidera.
