Sigma Systems and Genband have teamed up to help provision a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network that is being built by Canadian service provider Bell Aliant.
The FTTH network is using Sigma’s Telco Services Accelerator to help provision Bell Aliant’s “FiberOp” all-IP deployment. FiberOp’s footprint includes areas of the Canadian provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador. The service is on track to pass 600,000 homes and businesses by the end of 2012.
Genband and Sigma Systems have formed a formal partnership to enable IPTV services.
“Fiber-to-the-home networks are continuing to gain momentum with our telco customers, like Bell Aliant, around the world. With the Telco Services Accelerator, Sigma Systems enables service providers to monetize FTTH networks and assist our customers in bringing any type of service or bundle to market in an accelerated manner,” said Tim Spencer, president and COO of Sigma Systems.
With the Sigma Systems Service Management Platform (SMP), Sigma said Bell Aliant has been able to reduce its operational silos, assisting with the delivery of residential triple-play bundles from a single OSS service fulfillment system.
Recently, Bell Aliant also rolled out service fulfillment for hosted commercial VoIP services and deployed Sigma Systems’ Device Provisioning Manager (DPM) to configure and provision SIP/IP phones for business users.
In addition, the combined Sigma Systems platform gives Bell Aliant the following benefits:
- Built-in support for Alcatel-Lucent ONTs, Genband softswitches and Microsoft Mediaroom for IPTV, reducing time to deployment
- Fully integrated service order-to-activation processes, with integration to Bell Aliant’s CRM and billing system
- Compliance with the TM Forum’s certification for Order Management API and Web Services in a next-generation OSS (NGOSS) framework, enabling faster time to market through standards-based OSS to BSS interoperability.
“By deploying a 100 percent fiber-to-the-home network, customers are now able to experience Internet and TV services to their full potential, with the fastest Internet upload and download speeds and best in-market TV product available to customers throughout our region,” said Ivan Toner, CTO at Bell Aliant. “Genband and Sigma Systems have been key partners in bringing bundled service offerings to our customers in the quickest, most efficient method possible. As our FTTH network continues to evolve and deliver new, innovative services, we look forward to continuing our partnership with Genband and Sigma Systems.”
