Silicon Image has filled its empty CEO slot with Camillo Martino, a 25-year semiconductor veteran.
Martino most recently was COO of SAI Technology, a supplier of 4G and security technology solutions to the mobile communications industry. Before that he was CEO of Cornice, and prior to that COO at Zoran. His tenures at both were marked by rapid growth.
Martino’s predecessor, Steve Tirado, resigned last September, at about the same time the company lowered revenue forecasts by approximately one-quarter.
Hal Covert, who served as interim president and chief operating officer pending the company’s search for a new CEO, agreed to continue as president of the company and serve on the company’s board through a transition period ending on Sept. 30, 2010.
Silicon Image said its board of directors’ compensation committee voted to provide Martino an “inducement grant” of a nonqualified stock option exercisable for 1 million shares of the company’s common stock.
The company was a proponent of HDMI, and it’s involved in the development of a follow-on protocol it is calling LiquidHD.
