Since its launch just before Halloween last year, Sprint’s Music Store serviced a million wireless downloads of songs to cell phones, the company announced this morning.
“The popularity of the Sprint Music Store is due largely to its ability to instantly deliver the songs people want when they want them on their Sprint phone, the one device that is likely always with them,” said Jeff Hallock, VP/product marketing for Sprint. “Our customers, many of whom may have never used a portable music player before, can quickly access the Sprint Music Store and use it immediately.”
Fast facts: Sprint’s library now holds 320,000 songs, from “all genres.” It takes about 45 seconds to download a song. Each one costs about $2.50, which comes twice: Once for the phone, and once for the PC. Customers can download up to 1,000 songs, but to do that they’ll probably need “increased storage” via an optional memory card, available from Sprint.
