We had a chat with Alex Tramiel, CEO of the Sandman Doppler by Palo Alto Innovation, and got the 411 on their new product, where the inspiration came from, and advice they’d give to other entrepreneurs just starting out.
Q: What does the Palo Alto Innovation do?
A: We are a product design firm, we make products, such as the Sandman Doppler.
Q: Break down your product for us, piece by piece!
A: The Sandman Doppler is our second product and it’s a Smart alarm clock with speakers and USB charging. It has Alexa, a RGB display, dashboard indicators, bluetooth, is app enabled and much more!
Q: Our inspiration for our startup came from:
A: We wanted to make products that people would use everyday and love. Not something that filled a niche, but something practical and useful.
Q: What sets you apart?
A: There are no other products like the Doppler on the market. It’s incredibly practical and customizable!
Q: What is the smartest move you’ve made so far?
A: Our team is fantastic. Hiring people can be risky, but we made the right decision with the small team we have created.
Q: What is the biggest mistake you’ve made so far?
A: We can get over ambitious and try and launch too many products at once. It can be a challenge and we need to stay more hyper focused and avoid product ADD.
Q: What is one piece of advice you’d give to other entrepreneurs just starting out?
A: Understand that you’re going to make mistakes, waste money and time, and will fail at something. Accept it, learn from it and move on.
