Liberty Media Corp.’s Starz LLC division has launched Overture Films, a division that will produce, acquire and distribute between eight to 12 full-length feature films per year.
Overture Films is helmed by CEO Chris McGurk and COO Danny Rosett, both former MGM execs. McGurk reports to Starz LLC Chairman & CEO Robert Clasen.
Overture’s target is for about 60 percent of its films to be original productions, with the balance from acquisitions.
The studio will be based in Los Angeles, and releases are slated to begin in mid-2007.
