Verimatrix now has available its client security that has been implemented directly in silicon. The chips were originally announced last September.
As an alternative to plug-in security cards, hardwiring the security automatically reduces the cost of set-tops – in situations where a low-cost box is both desired and allowed.
Verimatrix’s ViewRight client security technology has been integrated in systems-on-chips (SoCs) from ALi Corp. The two SoCs are the M3383 and M3603 advanced security conditional access (CA)-enabled STB SoC solutions.
The ALi M3383 and M3603 chipsets are targeted for the digital TV market in emerging regions where cost – and piracy – are major priorities for operators, Verimatrix said. The chipsets offer a low-cost platform that features all of the major subsystems required to implement digital STB for satellite, terrestrial, cable or IPTV.
