Cellular phone conversations that you can’t hear
The hardware visible here is an STM32 Nucleo expansion board coupled to a Quectel BG96 LTE Cat M1/Cat NB1/EGPRS module. This is a low-data-rate device operating a 300-kbps downlink and 375 kbps uplink. It is the kind of hardware you might use to develop some kind of IoT application – probably for machines — that doesn’t need a lot of communication bandwidth. And that’s the message that wireless provider Verizon brought to the Tech Tour. It is providing budget-priced communication services aimed at the low-data-rate stuff characterizing IoT applications.
