Suddenlink Communications announced that its data service has hit the high water mark of 1 million broadband subscribers.
Midland, Texas, resident Mark Saenz was identified yesterday as customer number 1 million and was awarded an iPad and one year of free services from Suddenlink.
Suddenlink hit the 1 million subscriber milestone shortly after the conclusion of the company’s Project Imagine initiative, which was a nationwide capital investment program. Project Imagine earmarked approximately $350 million of investments over the past three years above and beyond Suddenlink’s traditional capital spending levels.
With Project Imagine, Suddenlink rolled out DOCSIS 3.0 data services, increased the speeds on other data tiers, and increased its VOD and HD offerings.
During Project Imagine, Suddenlink introduced its DOCSIS 3.0-based Max 107.0 service, with download speeds of up to 107 Mbps. At the time of its introduction in 2010, it was the fastest residential high-speed Internet offering by a major provider in the United States. Suddenlink customers can choose services with download speeds of up to 3, 15, 30, 50 and 107 Mbps.
Also during Project Imagine, Suddenlink more than tripled the number of high-definition TV channels it offers, expanded its video-on-demand service reach to more than 90 percent of its customers, increased Internet speeds and introduced all-digital TV lineups to a number of communities.
