Sunflower Broadband is serving up two tiers of its DOCSIS 3.0-enabled service in its headquarters of Lawrence, Kan., as well as in Eudora and other rural Kansas communities.
Sunflower Broadband’s fastest DOCSIS 3.0 tier, which it calls “Gold,” features 50 Mbps on the downstream and 1 Mbps on the upstream. The Palladium tier is also DOCSIS 3.0-enabled, but the speeds are listed as “variable” on Sunflower’s Web site. The Gold tier costs $59.95 per month when bundled with other services from Sunflower, while the Palladium has a bundle price of $49.95 per month.
Sunflower Broadband is using Arris’ Touchstone WBM 750 wideband modem for its DOCSIS 3.0 service.
“We are very happy with our decision to launch DOCSIS 3.0 service using the Arris Touchstone wideband modem,” said Rod Kutemeier, Sunflower’s general manager. “We first deployed these devices in August 2009 and have seen excellent performance in the field. Arris has shined on both fulfillment and product quality for Sunflower Broadband.”
Sunflower plans to complete the deployment of its DOCSIS 3.0 service to the rest of its systems by the end of the first quarter.
