Sunrise Telecom announced a new monitoring system for RF cable TV and broadband communications services.
The system, called RealWORX, features an ingress monitoring system capable of monitoring above 65 MHz. The frequency band above 65 MHz allows operators to better detect laser clipping that can erode data quality of service (QoS).
“Competition among video providers continues to heat up, which means video quality is becoming an essential differentiator,” said Jeff Heynen, directing analyst of IPTV and OSS/BSS at Infonetics Research. “The RealWORX monitoring system provides more functionality and flexibility in a single system than competing systems while simultaneously meeting the pressing need for CATV headend and hub site monitoring, as well as video hub office (VHO) and video serving office (VSO) monitoring for telcos.”
RealWORX can improve network performance and availability by alerting operators to impairments before they have serious effects. By constantly monitoring both upstream and downstream channel performance on the cable TV system, operators can proactively identify and eliminate these impairments prior to service degradation.
