Sunrise Telecom has a set of tools based on a new set of ITU standards for bringing up carrier Ethernet services.
Sunrise’s IntelliSAM Carrier Ethernet Service Activation Test Suite is based on the recently consented ITU Y.1564 standard, formerly known as Y.156sam.
Y.1564’s newly enhanced test methodology is specifically written for service activation and is closely tailored to the bandwidth profile parameters being sold.
Sunrise Telecom’s IntelliSAM enables service providers to verify and guarantee the exact service configuration and performance delivered to their customers.
As carrier Ethernet increases in popularity, service providers are under pressure to meet more stringent service-level agreements (SLAs) for their customers. In order to truly guarantee these SLAs, service providers must be able to verify the bursty nature of Ethernet services. IntelliSAM’s committed burst size (CBS) and excess burst size (EBS) tests are the first in the industry to be able to generate bursty traffic in a Carrier Ethernet test suite, the company explained.
Sunrise Telecom helped with the development of the new Y.1564 standard as a leading contributor in the ITU Study Group. The company contributed many of the procedural details to the service configuration and service performance tests, including expansion of the bandwidth profile with the new burst testing algorithm for CBS and EBS modes.
