SureWest Communications has raised the high-speed bar with a tier that offers symmetrical speeds of 20 Mbps.
SureWest is marketing the tier for $89.95 a month, offering it initially in “selected” areas of Sacramento, Calif. that have fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) networks, including Natomas, Carmichael and the areas of Lincoln and Elk Grove. The company already sells a 10 Mbps tier for $49.95 per month.
“SureWest is setting the standard in Sacramento by offering unprecedented speeds for residential customers at very competitive prices,” said company SVP and COO Fred Arcuri, in a release.
The launch again raises the bar on residential high-speed Internet services. Last month, Cox Communications turned up a 15 Mbps/2 Mbps service in Northern Virginia, and Adelphia Communications discussed plans for a 15-meg tier.
