Synacor announced today that Greg Riker has joined the company as its senior vice president of worldwide sales.
A media industry veteran, Riker has more than 18 years of experience in media, technology and sales, including positions at Arris, Oracle and Accenture (Andersen Consulting).
Prior to joining Synacor, Riker spent the last 10 years at Arris, which included stops at nCube and C-Cor prior to Arris buying those companies. Riker held various positions at Arris, including his most recent job as vice president for global on-demand sales in the company’s Denver office.
“As content goes everywhere, so must Synacor, both in terms of service offerings and our market reach. In Greg, our sales force has a leader with close to 20 years’ experience in media technology sales, both in the U.S. and abroad,” said George Chamoun, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Synacor. “I’m excited to have Greg aboard. His experience will be a key addition as Synacor expands to meet the needs of our partners, as well as expand our deployment of TV Everywhere services.”
Riker will be responsible for all sales, both in the United States and internationally. His role will encompass strengthening relationships with existing clients and pursuing new sales opportunities by expanding service offerings to ongoing partners, as well as pursuing all relevant new and strategic accounts.
Earlier this year, Synacor worked with NBC Universal and 14 cable operators to help provision broadband Winter Olympics coverage. Synacor is also behind Charter Communications’ TV Everywhere trial.
