Part of T-Mobile’s come-from-behind strategy has been to offer incentives to customers that switch over from its competitors.
So its latest promotion, offering a free one-year Hulu subscription to Verizon customers who defect, is not necessarily surprising.
But it does tie in well with T-Mobile’s recently announced Binge On feature, which allows its subscribers to stream unlimited lower-quality video without eating into their data caps. And the offer could particularly sting Verizon as the provider is in the middle of a big push to attract an audience for its relatively new go90 video service.
T-Mobile’s new promotion is somewhat similar to the free one-year Amazon Prime memberships Sprint was handing out earlier this year, except that deal was for new customers opting for a new Samsung device.
