An Australian startup is Kickstarting an ergonomic case for tablets suitable for worksites.
The Tabble is a freestanding support table for tablets, which enables them to be held in either portrait or landscape orientation in front of the user in order to prevent the awkward, cramped feeling of holding a tablet in one’s lap for a long period of time.
Jarrad and Rick Crugnale, a father and son team, developed the idea for the tablet table after Jarrad observed workers at a mine site run to their process plant and offices in order to update their spreadsheets on a computer. Being able to carry and operate a tablet hands-free, the Crugnales thought, would be a more efficient way to access a computer on the work site.
Tablets from any manufacturer can be fit into the Tabble. A strap around the user’s neck allows for hands-free operation, while an optional waist strand allows for additional support if the user is standing in a workplace environment. The Tabble folds into a compact wand when not being used, but when unfolded can be adjusted to a variety of sizes of tablets due to its adjustable arms.
A Kickstarter campaign for the product is set to begin in December 2015.
Tabble is backed by Form Designs Australia, a professional industrial design agency, and is offered through Jarrad Crugnale’s company Samnites Group.
